The 2026 SA Dance School Championships will offer Performance, Championship and Dance Off/Impro entries over a three-week period. To accommodate the large number of performances and ensure a smooth flow of the event, the competition will operate on a full-day schedule, with sessions starting as early as 09:00. Where possible, the schedule will be structured to begin each with the 6 to 10 year old, then the 11 & 12 years old, gradually progressing to the 13 and over ages in the afternoon and evenings.

The goal of the SA Dance School Championships is to provide novice dancers with the experience of performing on stage and to offer amateur dancers the opportunity to compete against their peers for top honours.

To participate in the SA Dance School Championships, dance schools must enter at least 10 students.

This event is designed for dance schools and dancers from beginners to advanced, rather than just the top performers. First-year participants may request an exemption from this rule.

The SA Dance School Championship utilises a modern online system to manage the competition.
